SAINT OF THE DAY
Today, September 21st, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Matthew.
He was a former tax collector who was called to be one of Jesus’s twelve apostles. He was one of the witnesses of the Resurrection and Jesus’s Ascension.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Nobody can fight properly and boldly for the faith if he clings to a fear of being stripped of earthly possessions.”
-St. Peter Damian
Our money, our cars, our clothes, our houses...
I imagine most of us are aware that we are called to not be overly attached to our possessions (whether we are doing well in that area is another question).
What I want to call our attention to, though, are the things that may be controlling us that we aren’t aware of.
Holding on to resentments?
What are the things that have sunk their claws in to you that you can’t do without, but may not be aware of unless reflected on?
Lord, please help us to fight complacency and help us to remain vigilant towards all of our character defects.
