SAINT OF THE DAY

Today, September 25th, we celebrate the feast day of Blessed Herman the Cripple. He was an eleventh century monk. Despite being born with a cleft palate, cerebral palsy, and spina bifida, he was the most famous religious poet of his time and authored works such as Salve Regina and Alma Redemptoris Mater.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Our body has this defect that, the more it is provided care and comforts, the more needs and desires it finds.”

–St. Teresa of Avila

Our bodies (and minds for that matter) are weak things. We are constantly in a battle to overcome our weaknesses and frailties.

As Blessed Herman the Cripple demonstrated a thousand years ago, we can serve God despite our shortcomings.

If Blessed Herman can do great things for Him, what excuse do we have?

Answer: NONE
