Some of the Feet Skipped and Jumped Up the Aisle

Today, as I knelt in my pew during the distribution of Holy Communion I randomly began to take notice of people's feet as they passed by.

Some were big, some were small...

Some were obviously female, some were male...

I saw kid feet, and I saw old feet...

Some were dressed in fancy high heels, others in tattered velcro...

Some appeared to be recently pedicured, while some had not been washed in a while...

Some of the feet skipped and jumped up the aisle, while others--aided with a cane--dragged and struggled forward one pain-staking step at a time...

I couldn't help but think of the beauty of it.

No two pair looked the same, but all belonged to sinners, sharing a common path to bow at the feet of Christ in the Eucharist.

"I throw myself at the foot of the Tabernacle like a dog at the foot of his Master."

-St. John Vianney
