Who: St. Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop, Moral Theologian, Confessor, and Doctor of the Church.

What: He was a Bishop, spiritual writer, composer, musician, artist, poet, lawyer, scholastic philosopher and theologian. He is the Patron Saint of vocations and theologians.

When: (1696–1787) He was canonized in 1839 by Pope Gregory XVI, and proclaimed a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius IX in 1871.

Why: St. Alphonsus Liguori is remembered for many things...

☕️He founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists).

☕️Served as Bishop of Sant’Agata del Goti.

☕️He was a prolific writer, writing 111 works on spirituality and theology. He is one of the most widely read Catholic authors of all time.
