Today, August 24th, we celebrate the feast day of...

Who: St. Bartholomew, Apostle and Martyr

What: Very little facts are known about St. Bartholomew other than the fact that he was one of the Twelve Apostles. Some scholars identify him as also being Nathaniel from the Gospel of John.

When: 1st century AD

Where: Israel, India, Armenia

Need to knows:

☕️ He was (probably) one of the people who witnessed Jesus after His Resurrection on the Sea of Tiberius regarding the miraculous catch of fish (see John 21:1-14) and he also witnessed the Ascension.

☕️ Tradition tells that Bartholomew preached the Gospel in India, then went to Greater Armenia.

☕️ Tradition also states that he was martyred by being flayed alive and beheaded, others say he was crucified upside down like Peter.

St. Bartholomew, pray for us!
